If you work in the oil and fuel industry, you will need to order new oilfield valves from time to time when you are in this line of work. Of course, before you get online or make a call to the oilfield valves supplier, you will need to make sure that you have a good understanding of just what type of valves you need and how to tell which is which. After all, unless you are out of the office and down in the trenches face to face with all of the various valves, you might not automatically know which is which. Here are some things to remember:
The Globe Valves
These are commonly used oilfield valves and are generally used for open and close operations. One of the reasons this type of oilfield valve is so popular is because of their S shape passageway. That shape allows for a good pressure drop, allowing things to be kept under control.
The Gate Valves
The gate oilfield valves are perfect for pipelines that need to be completely shut down at times. Since the flow rate is able to be controlled easily with this type of gate valve, it is perfect for many oilfield operations.
The Plug Valves
The plug valves have a horizontal passageway that goes through a disc that is shaped like a plug. You can restrict flow by simply turning the actuator. Once you have done that, fine oil products will be able to pass through as needed and at a restricted flow rate.
The Check Valves
The check valve can only open when it is under pressure. This means that there will not be able cross-contamination and the flow can still be controlled with ease.
The Butterfly Valves
The butterfly valves have a type of disc that is held in place by a rod. This setup is designed to regulate the flow through high-pressure pipelines. It is because of this that backflow is restricted and you do not have to worry about dealing with any costly cross-contamination.
They are also ideal for pipes that have a very wide circumference. After all, there are not as many types of valves that can fit properly in the larger pipes.
